A rare collector’s piece from Mexico’s Silver Renaissance. Finished with a sterling silver clasp and presented on a black velvet necklace cord, this vintage Taxco sterling silver necklace showcases the celebrated Armadillo design by legendary designer Valentin Vidaurreta, handcrafted by Manuel Altamirano, senior silversmith at Hector Aguilar’s Taller Borda.
Dozens of individually hand-domed, overlapping sterling silver ovals create a fluid, articulated design inspired by the armadillo, with each element catching the light beautifully. A remarkable example of mid-century Mexican silver artistry, the piece is stamped M. Altamirano, 925, Taxco Mexico and dates to circa 1940s.
