About the Artist

Kirk Smith came from a distinguished family of Navajo silversmiths. He first learned the craft as a young boy in the 1960s, working alongside his grandfather in the family workshop. By 1980, he had committed fully to his art, deepening his practice under the mentorship of his brother-in-law, the acclaimed artist Harry Morgan (ColoradoJo currently has a Concho belt by HM)

Over the decades, Kirk’s work earned numerous awards and a reputation for investment-grade quality. His style stayed true to the bold, heavy silverwork traditions of the Navajo people — elevated always by his insistence on using only the finest stones and materials.
